Body weight training is nothing new. It's about using what you have and is the simplest form of exercise. The best part is...no equipment is needed.
Using only our body weight to get fit can shape our bodies and boost our confidence. Body weight exercises include squats, planks, lunges, pushups, and yoga. When using our body weight for resistance, the exercises can be done almost anywhere and the cost is nothing. Many times the space needed minimal and the best part - we can do them in the privacy of our own homes.
Training with our body weight is efficient. When we training with weights, often times we have to adjust during our workouts. This takes times and can cost us precious moments. Moments that can be spent burning calories and building muscle. The more work we complete in a certain period of time, the stronger and leaner we become.
One of my favorite things about body weight training is it's full of variety. There are hundreds of way to design workouts using the same exercises based on individual fitness level and goals. And, the movements are natural and functional. They develop muscles in our bodies that we use every day. Think movements instead of specific muscle groups.
Body weight movements don't require any equipment to start, the movements can be basic or advance, and the options are endless. What body weight workout are you going to try next?
